Death Row Database
Below is a new database of death row prisoners in the U.S. created by OpposingViews.com. The database contains sortable information on death row inmates in each state, including their race, county, and date of birth. The content of the database is largely user-generated. The information in the database is editable, and individuals with knowledge of death row inmates may change or add new information. DPIC has no part in the creation or maintenance of this database, nor can we vouch for its accuracy. It may be a useful tool in exploring how the death penalty is applied. Another resource for death row information is Death Row USA, published by the NAACP Legal Defense Fund.
How to use the database:
- Click an inmate’s name to view his or her details.
- Filter or sort the information by clicking any of the column headings. You can apply multiple filters by first filtering one column – such as gender – and then filtering another column.
- Resize a column by clicking-and-dragging the edge of the column heading. Alternatively, you can use the scrollbar at the bottom of the table to view obscured columns.
- Click the page number at the bottom of the list to jump to another page.
- Click any cell to update its data.
- Click the “add row” button to add a name missing from the table.
